Satisfied Even with My Bag of Peas

Bea-u-ti-ful day today!!! Low sixties and sunny (absolutely no rain clouds...it's been awhile). Great day for working on a project outdoors. So, after a trip to the pool for the future scientist's swim test, a trip to the park for some outdoor fun, and a weekly trip to Walmart, it was into the backyard to build my garden box. I've been wanting to do this for quite awhile but it's just been too cold. But not today, you can feel that spring might actually be on it's way. So after an hour of digging and hoeing, pushing and lifting, my box is ready...just add miracle grow, mix in some good garden soil, and plant. Although my little garden won't yeld enough to save on groceries, I look forward to getting my hand dirty with the kids and watching their excitement as they finally taste something they planted into the ground. Lesson of the Day: Even though my poor messed up shoulder is already aching, I never knew needing a frozen bag of peas could feel so satisfying.

Return of the Tick People

Some of my favorite pictures of myself are the ones where I look like a tick. I just love those early drawings by my children, the ones where scribbles start to resemble people. Z drew this one for me today. It's definately a baby book keeper. She even wrote, with very little help, the letters (very impressive, but then again, Z has always loved letters). Anyway, so into the land of tick people we happily return. Lesson of the Day: Ticks don't have to be gross and itchy...they can be absolutely adorable.

Here's Lookin' at You, Kid!

Z is such a nut. J and Z both looked so cute today, I just had to take their picture and since Nana said she'd like to see some pictures of Z wearing her cute dresses, I tried to get one of just her. (She wears jeans a lot during the winter.) This is the best I could get! I wish I could type the noise she makes with this face. It's kind-of like a clicking of the tongue. What a goob! I guess that's why she's keeps us all laughing. She's definately got her own thing goin' on! Happy Valentine's Day!

Ladies first???....not today!

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, J! Dat not fair!!!" That's what Z is yelling in this picture. Priceless Ater Kid moment~right up there with the J shooting Z with the water hose.

Today, we spend the entire afternoon working in the yard. Raking leaves, pulling weeds, cutting down once frozen now dead plants (note all the sticks around the tree), and digging up the drainage system to see why the stink it won't drain. Lot's of tiring work. The kids helped too knowing their reward would be the huge pile of leaves I was working on. They had been tempted to jump in many times but shooed away with, "You've just got to be patient. I'm trying to get it perfect for jumping." Finally, the pile was ready and I sent the kids all the way to the fence for a good running start. They were so excited and so was I to see their joy as I grabbed my camera and positioned myself just on the other side of the pile to capture the moment. "Ready.....Set.......GOOOOOOOO!" and here they ran....oh no, J is running too fast.....oh no, he's passed Z....oh no, he's not letting her catch up....oh no, he's going to get to the pile first....then leaves everywhere and the "NOOOOOOOOOOO, J____! Dat not fair!!!" Don't worry, we piled up the leaves and let her have her own jump. They proceeded to bury themselves and have a great time. I have tons of pics but this one by far is my favorite! His face and her face.... Lesson of the Day: Longer legs run faster so always let the littler one have a head start!
