Yuck Yuck Yuck....gotta vent...so watch out!

Mind you, I have never watched it, but just the commercial for Toddlers and Tiaras makes me want to puke!  I could probably fill up a few pages venting about this topic and how inappropriate it is to have babies coated in make-up flaunting on a stage; but I'll just leave it at this, TLC, you should be ashamed to show that kind of trash and Toddler and Tiara Mom's, I don't even know what to say to you...other than, "Shame on you!"  Sorry for the vent.  I was just trying to watch some other show and was assaulted every commercial break with T and T promos.  I felt a great need to get on my soapbox for a minute.  Got it out... now back to What Not to Wear.

Still laughing!!!

While we were at Mom and Dad's celebrating Christmas, we took family photos (thanks to my talented brother Matt). It was quite a photo session. Some of the photos we really good (see family picture in an earlier post) and some were just funny. Here's just one example. I think I'll post a picture or two everyday to show you what I mean. Its been a long time since I've laughed as hard as I did when this picture was taken. This is my older neice and nephew, Lyndee and Joey with one of Mom's way too friendly chickens. Lyndee was going to hold the chicken in the picture (we were making her because we thought it would be funny), when the chicken decided to take off and try to fly away. I laugh every time I see this picture...I think we all will for years to come. Lesson of the Day: When taking family photos...just keep clicking...no matter what happens.

Building a Neighborhood with the Littletons

Best Buddies
The Aters and the Littletons

I think this picture is funny. I said, "Smile like Santa just brought you presents!" I laughed after I uploaded and saw the difference in the smiles from picture one and two.

Today was such a fun day. My best friend Carey is in town for Christmas. She and her crew came over this morning to decorate Graham Cracker Houses (instead of Gingerbread). It was so much fun. Carey and I were able to visit, I got to play with baby B, and our older kids got to have a great time playing and consuming as much candy as their tummies would allow. We were all sad when it was time for them to head back to Grammy's house. J said before they even drove out of the driveway, "I miss D already." (They have been best buddies since they were right around a year old.) I just looked at J and said, "I know what you mean." Great memory making day with great friends!!! Lesson of the Day: Spending time with good friends is better than any present.

School Programs

Like I said in an earlier post, we've been running from one Christmas event to another...two parties with friends, two school programs, a dance recital, and a soccer party to name just a few. Tomorrow morning we even have a Jingle Bell Walk before we scoot over to SA to celebrate with Alan's family. Above are pics from the kids' school Christmas programs. They both were chosen for brief speaking parts. We were so proud of them. Love the pic of Z. She was so excited that she could see us. She spent most of the time waving at us from the stage and even made her brother sink in his seat by yelling, "Hi, J!" right as everything got quiet. I also love this picture of J. He's the only one looking and there is something about the way he looks that reminds me of when he was a baby. He's so cute. Lesson of the Day: Most school/ballet programs would be completely unbearable if it weren't for the fact that there is someone on stage that is absolutely adored by their parents. What might be considered by some as a mild form of torture, in a parent's eye, becomes a performance by the most loved artist in the world.

Seriously....Cowboys and Aliens

Okay, when I first heard the title of this movie I was like, "Seriously?  Cowboys and Aliens?  There is no way I'm going to see that."  But then, I kept hearing big names that were involved and it peaked my interest.  My brother posted on his blog a link to the trailer.  Alan and I just watched it and WOW!  Looks really good...like sit on the edge of your seat and try to remind yourself to breath good.  Of course I like a good guy movie.  Here's the link:

In the words of the great Lenny Kravitz...

"I want to get away....I want to fly away."

Four Lessons of the Day:
1.  I realized how well my husband knows how I tick and how much I appreciate that.
2.  I'll never stop being shocked by selfish and inconsiderate people.
3.  Complacency is never a good thing, especially when it affects others.
4.  Schedules are not for everyone and it doesn't make you a bad or lazy parent.

If you are trying to tie those all together, wondering what happened during my day...don't bother.  They are not linked.  They are tied to my day just not with the same events.  Just needed to get my thoughts out and now I'm going to go pray.
